11.2.4.  Determination of noun phrases with a generic reading

Plural definite noun phrases can have a generic reading and a direct kind reference.
A zebrá-k csíkos-ak.
the zebra-PL striped-PL.
’Zebras are striped.’

Definite noun phrases in singular can have a generic reading and a direct kind reference.
A zebra csíkos.

Indefinite noun phrases can have a generic reading, referring to typical members of a class, rather than reffering to a kind as a whole,
Egy zebra csíkos.
