8.2.3.  Adpositional phrases as modifiers

Adpositional phrases (including oblique case-marked nouns) can only be modifiers in post-head position.
a pavilon a kert-ben
the gazebo the garden-INE
’the gazebo in the garden’

To serve as a modifier in pre-head position, adpositional phrases must be embedded in a participial expression formed with a copula, or be transformed into a modifier by the suffix -i.
a kertben levő / kert-i pavilon
the garden-INE being / garden-ATTR gazebo
’the gazebo in the garden’
