2.2.3.  The semantic properties of the subject

The semantic properties of the subject do not seem to influence the choice between copulas. In the example, human, animate, and inanimate subjects are illustrated with the same present tense copula. The subject, however, must be specific.
János / a fa / az épület a kert-ben van.
John / the tree / the building the garden-INE be.3SG
’John / the tree / the building is in the garden.’
