9.2.1.  Specificity and its marking

Cardinal numerals and degree-quantifiers can have either a specific or a non-specific indefinite reading. In the latter case, they can appear with predicates requiring a non-specific complement.
Született sok gyerek
was.born many child
’Many children were born.’

Universal quantifiers and quantifiers with an -ik suffix are always specific: they cannot appear with predicates requiring a non-specific complement.
*Született minden/mindegyik gyerek
was.born every/each child
